Commercial dog walker Kim McKay Denomme, good friend and supporter of Tabbara, has selflessly put together an afternoon of art appreciation, raffles, snacks, entertainment and memories.
Several of the local artist’s paintings will be available through a silent auction complimented by a raffle made possible by local friends, neighbours and businesses, all in support of the Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund.
A bit about Tabbara in Denomme’s words:
“He was a very passionate, emotional person and it came through in his art. There is a very wide range of styles, depending on his mood at the time of painting.
Much of his work was painted on found wood….meaning found in the garbage or at the curb. I’d see him marching home carrying a ton of wood, of course I would pick him and his stuff up, load my van then help him haul it up to his apartment. He’d be lecturing me on something the whole time. He was a very interesting character.
He was also a dog lover and dog walker… that’s how I met him. His beloved dog Angie died of cancer so I felt Smiling Blue Skies and his art were perfectly matched. Malak also died of cancer, he was always complaining about the western doctors making so much money off the business of cancer…..canine cancer research was the logical choice in my mind.”
