August 28, 2016 is Go Topless Day
Go Topless Day is held on the closest Sunday to Woman’s Equality Day, August 26 which commemorates the day women earned the right to vote (August 26, 1920) , now we are free to bare more than arms. At a time when body covering burkinis are causing a big kerfuffle in France we have a day to celebrate free range boobies.
“It’s been more than 20 years since Gwen Jacob walked topless down a street in Guelph, Ont., and was charged with committing an indecent act. That sparked a court battle that ultimately vindicated her, and the courts ruled it was legal for women to go topless in Ontario.
Just because it’s legal to go without tops, however, doesn’t mean it’s culturally any easier for women to do it now than it was for Jacob in 1991.” – CBC.ca
It’s not hard to see why that law was passed, half the population is male and the other half wouldn’t want to quash the suffragette spirit of their sisters.
I wandered around on Go Topless Day 2016, went to a beach, a Farmer’s market and strolled my neighborhood. It was really freakin’ hot too but there were no boobies to be seen. The closest I got was a woman in a flesh colored tank top. So, what’s the deal?
